He is the company’s chief technical officer (CTO), and he is in charge of the company’s Technical Strategy, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence.

Who is Parag Agrawal ?

Parag Agrawal is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay . The Indian-American attended Atomic Energy Central School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay. In 2012, he received his PhD in computer science from Stanford University in the United States.

Despite the fact that he is an IIT Mumbai graduate. Parag, 37, has been on Twitter for a while and is reportedly well-liked by Jack Dorsey, which is likely a factor in his clinching the top spot.

Parag was not as well-known as Sundar Pichai or Satya Nadella when they became CEOs, despite the fact that he had been in a leadership role on Twitter for some time. In the email he wrote to Twitter staff on Monday, Parag confirms this. He said, “I recognise that some of you are familiar with me, while others are not. Let’s start at the beginning—the first step toward a brighter future. I’m sure you have a lot of questions, and we’ll have a lot to talk about. We’ll have plenty of time for Q&A and debate at tomorrow’s all-hands meeting. It will be the start of a series of open, direct dialogues that I hope we may have together in the future.”

Before joining Twitter in 2011, Agrawal worked as a researcher at Microsoft, Yahoo!, and AT&T in the United States.

Dorsey also put Agrawal in charge of Project Bluesky, the company’s decentralised social networking activities, until it selected a leader in December 2019. Bluesky’s new head, Jay Graber, was named in August 2021.

Agrawal rose up the ranks at Twitter as a software engineer for six years before being named CTO in 2017. According to PeopleAI, he has a net worth of $1.52 million. He’ll be responsible for achieving Twitter’s goal of 315 million monetizable users by the end of the year, as well as doubling the company’s revenue.

Leading the company’s efforts to employ artificial intelligence to boost the relevance of tweets in users’ timelines has been one of his major contributions.
