Yuvraj Singh has hinted that he will comeback from retirement next year.
NEW DELHI: Yuvraj Singh, the World Cup-winning former India all-rounder, has indicated that he will come out of retirement in February next year “on public demand,” more than two years after announcing his retirement.
Yuvraj, 39, made a surprise late-night Instagram post on Monday, sharing a film of his final century for India, a 150 against England in Cuttack in January 2017, as well as a message regarding a prospective comeback.
While the left-handed batsman was in and out of the team at the time, and his finest years were behind him, many believed Yuvraj was good enough to make a comeback and announce his retirement in style.
However, fans did not get to see Yuvraj in India’s blue jersey, and he announced his retirement from domestic cricket shortly after. After receiving clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the hard-hitting batsman competed in T20 leagues throughout the world, and he even showcased his deadly skills in the Road Safety T20 series this year.
Yuvraj Singh posted a video of his final international tonne on Instagram, with a patriotic Bollywood song called “Teri Mitti” playing in the backdrop.
“God decides your destiny !!On public demand il be back on the pitch hopefully in February ! Ain’t nothing like this feeling ! Thank you for your love and wishes mean a lot to me ! Keep supporting ?? it’s our team and a true fan will show his or her support in tough times,” he said.
While it is uncertain whether Yuvraj would return to play for India or in T20 competitions, fans will be thrilled to see the famous batsman on the cricket field once more.
