This year, Dhanteras will take place on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021. According to the Hindu calendar, it is observed on the thirteenth lunar day (Trayodashi) of Krishna Paksha of the Kartik month.

If you want to buy gold or silver on Dhanteras, the fortunate hour, according to Drik Panchang, is between 11.31 a.m. on November 2 and 06.35 a.m. on November 3.

According to Drik Panchang, you can also buy gold on November 3 for a limited time between 06.35 and 09.02 a.m., which is considered auspicious.

Significance

Dhantrayodashi, which falls one or two days before Diwali, symbolises the start of the festival. The name Dhanteras is made up of two words: ‘Dhan,’ which means wealth, and ‘Teras,’ which means thirteen. Purchasing kitchenware, jewellery, or any large purchases on this day is thought to bring good luck, success, and money.

There is no set rule for purchasing, and even a simple purchase such as a spoon or a plate can be carried home and worshipped on this day to continue the family’s tradition of bringing happiness and success.

It is believed that lighting diyas around the house will bring happiness and good fortune to the household. On this day, idols for Diwali puja are purchased and worshipped in several civilizations. The ceremony of lighting candles and diyas around the home is called as Yama Deepam, and it is meant to keep bad luck and Lord Yama (God of Death) away from those who live there.
