Love Story Movie Review: Naga Chaitanya’s film about forbidden love is heartfelt

Love Story has all of the hallmarks of a Kammula production. The music (by rookie composer Pawan Ch) has the ability to take us by surprise, the strong-willed leading lady dances like a dream, and the hero is a true gentleman.

Love Story
Director – Sekhar Kammula
Cast – Naga Chaitanya, Sai Pallavi, Rajeev Kanakala and Devyani

Critic’s Rating: 3.5/5

Story: When it comes to their lives, Revanth and Mouni have huge dreams. But, with their social status and gender standing in the way, will they be able to overcome their differences and allow their love triumph?

Sekhar Kammula is one of Telugu cinema’s most responsible mainstream filmmakers nowadays. With his latest film, Love Story, he tackles issues like caste, class division, middle-class problems, and sexual harassment in a powerful and poignant way. Despite the rushed climax and obvious finish, the film works to a significant measure because to Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s intelligent treatment and honest performances, which compliment each other so well.

It’s a film in which everything works in unison. Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi are so engrossed in their roles that they seem to be one with the characters they play. Chaitanya excels in a career-defining role because he is natural and emotes with honesty. Sai Pallavi is fantastic at communicating Mounica’s smallest anxieties. Easwari Rao deserves praise for her performance, as well as Gangavva’s amusing cameo. Rajeev Kanakala portrays arrogance and malice so well that I developed a strong dislike for him.

Purana Pul (computer graphics? ), a memory of a historical story of love with which Hyderabad is affiliated, provides the setting for a few scenes.

Love Story could have been another Sairaat, but in the last act, Sekhar skilfully steers it in a different path. Romance is one of the most often explored genres in commercial cinema, and it is easy to become cynical about it after a while. But this one had my attention; I waited with baited breath, hoping Revanth and Mounica would overcome the obstacles in their way.
