Google Search to show Short video from Instagram & TikTok

Google is working on a new update that will incorporate short videos from TikTok and Instagram to the search results. As per reports, Google is working on the prospect of viewing videos from both channels. This means that once the functionality were carried out, users will no longer need to access different video streaming applications, so they can stream videos in the Google app.

The latest update will extend to include a test feature introduced earlier this year by Google that nests a “Short Video” carousel in the customized Google Discover page. Although the original version of the feature focused on aggregating footage from Google-owned sites like YouTube and the Tangi; short-form video project, material from Instagram and TikTok is confirmed to include in the update.

As per news, Google is focusing on the prospect of short video from both channels.

As per the TechCrunch article, Google has stated that it is working on a feature like this. The spokesperson told the publication that Google is now testing the feature on mobile devices. The functionality is in its early stages on the Google App and the mobile website. This means that the video carousel will not appear on your search results as of now. However, as Google pushes out the feature, the top video content of TikTok and Instagram will emerge.

Today, Google also has Google Stories, but the article notes that the “Short Videos” carousel is totally new.

The report shows that if you click on the videos in the quick video carousel, you will be taken to the web edition of Instagram or TikTok. The software on social media sites will not unlock, even though you have them activated on your computers.

The feature was noticed by one of the users of Twitter, who also posted a screenshot of the feature. Twitter user Saad AK was among the few people who had a glimpse of the feature. He stated that he was searching for the term “Biryani” and that YouTube video results also appeared on Google Search. However, he noted that the results of the video do not appear with any search.

Another user called Brian Freiesleben was the first to see TikTok and Instagram posts. He reflected on Saad’s tweet and wrote, “Noticed Google pulling in Instagram and TikTok videos into this “short videos” carousel this morning.” He also shared the screenshot of his search results and the short video carousels.

Indian users not sure if TikTok Videos will appear

Considering that TikTok is forbidden in India, it remains unknown whether the feature will be rolled out to Indian users. It is not yet clear if Google can just stick to Instagram videos. Google may collaborate with either of the Chinese-short video platform’s Indian clones.

TikTok, on the other hand, still has offices in India. As per insiders, the company has not laid off any staff in India. It is in talks with the government to bring the app back to the country.
