1. Aloha (2015)

Where to watch? Netflix

Aloha is a breath of fresh air, the cinematography is excellent at conveying small and subtle hints of Brian’s mental state, the use of dutch tilts or an odd shake of the camera is perfect at depicting the uncertain and unstable nature of this character.

The environment is well chosen for a film that has an interesting tale to tell about morality and belief, the odd notions of spiritual and supernatural, soothes the disturbed and precarious state of the island and this also plays a part in the world that Crowe has created. Aloha has depth and with the small decisions that envelop this amazing landscape and story makes it stand out as one of the understated gems among the many films that have taken a shine. The film has a ton crammed into it and this may feel a bit overwhelming, some plot holes do plague the story but regardless of this,  Aloha allows the viewer to navigate the psyche and the spirit of its story.

2. Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

Binge it on Netflix

This is Russell’s second-best film and one of the best in the dramedy genre of Bradley Cooper movies. This is telling a film story at it’s finest. The entire production is superbly crafted. There is stylistic value in the camera movements such as POV and 360-degree camera pan shots. The soundtrack is terrific. The casting nears perfection. Cooper, Lawrence, and DeNiro are sensational.

The plot revolves around a man who has lost it all landing him in a mental hospital for a stint. He returns home to live with his family where they hope he can rebuild his life and revive his love and his family’s love for the Philadelphia Eagles. Essentially just be normal again whatever that is. Upon returning home the man meets a woman with issues of her own and subtle sparks ignite. Their relationship is based on doing each other a favor but evolves into much more. It’s an examination of the theory of human dynamics at a base level, i.e. if we as human beings can not connect with one another, then nothing else in the world matters. It’s an all-around love story for the ages.

3. He’s Just Not That into You (2009)

Available on Netflix

It is fun and witty, and deals with a subject we can all relate to – dating. Writer explores a deeper layer. However, how we have all been programmed to believe what we were taught when we were little – “signs” that reveal that someone is either into you or not. It is one of the earliest movies of Bradley Cooper.

The standout performance belongs to Jennifer Aniston. When several of the main characters do a complete about face on the strong convictions they have touted throughout the movie, it felt as though the writer wanted to tie everything up in a nice little bow, complete with happily ever afters. Unfortunately, that’s just not how life really is. That being said, this is an insightful look into the world of dating, and a pleasurable way to spend an evening.

4. The Hangover Series (Part I, II, III)

 Available on: Amazon Prime Series

The performances are great and the plot is fresh. It’s totally unpredictable what could happen to them next, which makes a movie a good movie. One of these film’s biggest strengths is its a script and the way its characters pull the dialogue off the page. And they do so in a way that is so consistently funny and entertaining. Without these actors in the roles that they’re applied to, this movie might not work as well but everyone is cast perfectly.

It would be pretty hard to identify who would be the main character, but I think it would have to Alan. The Hangover Series is one of the best comedies of Bradley Cooper Movies so far and that’s why you should watch this comedic masterpiece now.

5. Burnt (2015)

Available on Youtube

Even with the cliché of rinse and repeat formula of self-redemption, the execution makes it great. It is a good entree for someone looking for an appetite for a good movie and a good break. The overall message is very uplifting and heartwarming, and the attention to detail as far as the background story goes and the industry, in general, is exquisite.

The movie is beautifully captured. The food, the atmosphere and the acting realistic. The essence of food is the Passion, Originality, and Soul. It is and never will be, the pompous, ambiance or the price. It is one of the recent Bradley Cooper Movies.

6. Case 39 (2009)

Streaming on Netflix

The demon kid sub-genre, though old, can offer fresh chills, and the edge of the seat excitement if offered on the correct platter. Case 39 did the same and it was indeed an engulfed experience.

It portrays Lillith having been born with a demon soul. It drives her into sinister deeds and that negative energy feeds on other people through the little girl herself.  And, some creepy sequences are sure to leave that horror/thriller mark in the correct justification.

7. American Sniper (2014)

Available on: Amazon Prime Video

Based on the life and book of an American Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle, the movie features some of the most violent depictions of the Iraq war. Kyle, who was considered as the most lethal sniper in US military history, took more than 150 targets including his best shot from the distance of 1.8 kilometers.

It’s a perfect balance, a sandwich. The meaty action is shown in a way you can always see what is happening, something unusual and refreshing in modern films. Although it’s a true story, so you might think easy to tell, it takes an artist to tell it in a way that you are by his side throughout the film. It’s not made to be over the top or to blow your mind. The movie is much deeper. It sets out to share the life of a very unique man in a thoroughly entertaining way.

The rest of the sandwich, his life before and after are what make this more than just another war film. It really is genius, the really special piece being how you expect him to crack up and never be a good husband or dad again and….. Maybe watch the film.
