BoJack Horseman is considered as one of the most re-watchable Hollywood web series. This is thanks to the realistically unrealistic nature of the show. The show is set in a world where humans and anthropomorphic animals live together. It revolves around the life of BoJack, a humanoid horse, who is a self-loathing pessimist and an alcoholic with absolutely no enthusiasm for life. But even after having all these traits, he is still a funny character to watch. His jokes are dark but still can get a laugh out of you. His background and life story is as interesting as it’s depressing. EUPHORIA
Euphoria, starring Zendaya, is an Hollywood adaption of an Israeli series of the same name. The show follows the lives of a group of high school students as they experience friendship and love while being entangled in the web of sex, drugs, trauma, identity and social media. The show received positive response from the critics as the show dealt with serious subject matters but managed to ground itself in stark reality. This coming-of-age show is truly a masterpiece in its own rights. Especially for the Gen Z, the show has proved to be very relatable as it expresses the issues of substance abuse. THE CROWN
This Netflix Original show is a must watch for numerous reason. The show focuses on the life of Queen Elizabeth II since she was a 25-year-old newlywed until the early 21st century. The Crown gives the viewers a minor but worthy glimpse inside the lives of the Royal Family as Queen Elizabeth II takes the reins of the world’s most famous monarchy. As the show progresses, ones happens to wonder what they would do had they been in the shoes of the Queen. Many historic events are shown from the perspective of the ones involved in it. The production is enormous but classy, vintage but familiar. The Crown has been praised for its directing, cinematography, acting, writing, as well as production values. BREAKING BAD
Breaking Bad follows the story of Walter White, an average, middle-class American man in his fifties. White is a Chemistry genius, high-school teacher but he is diagnosed with Stage III terminal lung cancer. He soon finds out that he has only two years to live. In order to secure his family’s future, he ends up manufacturing and selling meth with his former student since he has nothing to lose anymore. Their meth starts gaining a lot of popularity so they decide to grow their business. However, while expanding their business successfully, Walter ends up going against drug mafias and people of his own. NARCOS
Narcos is another show revolving around drugs and the crime drama genre. Although, unlike Breaking Bad, Narcos is based on the life of a real drug lord, Pablo Escobar. The show tells the story of the growth of Escobar’s drug-dealing empire across different countries. Pablo, who is a primary target of DEA and the government, is also shown to be a family man and sometimes, nothing but a normal human. Narcos is available for streaming on Netflix.
STRANGER THINGS
Stranger Things is a Netflix Original series set in the 1980s in a fictional town called Hawkins, Indiana. The show mainly focuses on a group of friends of which, one goes missing in season 1 while another has psychokinetic superpowers. After the disappearance of the kid, a series of supernatural events take place that lead to many shocking discoveries of a secret world underneath, supernatural forces and beings, dark government agencies and much more. THE WALKING DEAD
The Walking Dead takes place in a post zombie apocalyptic world. It shows the instances from the zombie apocalypse and tells the story of months and years after the apocalypse happened. The protagonists are a group of survivors, mainly a former police officer, Rick Grimes. After getting shot, Rick goes in a coma. He wakes up to find out that there had been a zombie apocalypse. FRIENDS
FRIENDS is a forever classic and a fan favorite. This show has a huge fan following and viewership till date. So much that thanks to the royalties, the cast members are still making millions of dollars annually. The cultural impact of this show is monumental. The show follows the personal and professional lives of six friends, living in New York, who are in their mid-twenties . Like Friends, HIMYM is another show revolving around the lives of a group of friends. However, the show focuses mainly on Ted Mosby. Throughout the entire show, he narrates to his kids, the story of how he met their mother. However, the focus is mainly on Ted’s past relationships, that happened before he met the mother of his children. THE BIG BANG THEORY
The Big Bang Theory is another sitcom that follows the lives of geeky and socially-awkward friends. Leonard and Sheldon are physicists at Caltech who are also roommates. Raj is an astrophysicists and Howard is an aerospace engineer. They are later joined by Penny, who is a waitress and a struggling actress, as the show begins. In later seasons they are joined by neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler, microbiologist Bernadette Rostenkowski, and sometimes comic book store owner Stuart Bloom. GAME OF THRONES
Game of Thrones is a fantasy drama series by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. The show is an adaptation of a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin called A Song of Ice and Fire. It is set in the fictional continent of Westeros and Essos, where noble dynasties have conflicts as well as alliances. There are several story arcs throughout the show but the main story arc is the one pertaining to the Iron Throne of Westeros. The Iron Throne rules the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. It thus, leads to Noble Dynasties going at war, either to claim it or get independence from it. Another story arc along with this one, is that of the military order called Night’s Watch that is defending the realm against threats from the North. Peaky Blinders is a crime drama series set in Birmingham, England in the 1920s. It follows the feats of the Shelby crime family who are gangsters, racketeers and bookmakers. Tommy Shelby who is the second oldest of the family, oldest being Arthur Shelby, is a mastermind and the genius behind the growth of their business empire. Orange is the new black is a Netflix Original comedy-drama that is set in a women’s prison. The story revolves around a woman named Piper Chapman. She is in her thirties and is sentenced to 15 months in prison due to drug related charges. The show has an ensemble cast that is diverse and intriguing. The show challenges the stereotypes and the storyline is quite addictive and fun to keep up with. The acting by all the cast members is brilliant to say the least. Brooklyn Nine-Nine revolves around the happenings in Brooklyn’s 99th precinct and follows the feats of Jake Peralta, a childish but extremely brilliant detective. The detectives also include Jake’s arch nemesis-turned-love interest Amy Santiago who is nerdy and obedient unlike Jake. Then there’s Charles Boyle, Jake’s best friend, who is hard-working but meek. Suits is a legal drama series starring Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Meghan Markle, Sarah Rafferty. The story revolves around Mike Ross, played by Adams, who is a college dropout but brilliant in the field of law. Harvey Specter, played by Macht, wrongfully hires him as a law associate even though he is underqualified. Mike has to hide his true identity and qualification in order to continue this job. The Simpsons is an animated sitcom that revolves around the satirical adventures of the Simpsons family which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show depicts the life of a middle-class American Family living in the fictional city of Springfield. Homer is the father who has a careless attitude with a concerning amount of love for beer. The mother, Marge, is the glue that holds the family together. She is hard-working housewife who looks after everything in the household. Bart is a 10 year old troublemaker and a prankster.
