7 Best Ryan Gosling Movies on Netflix
Ryan Gosling has taken on a range of roles, from the heartthrob leading man in “The Notebook” (2004) to the comedic buddy-cop in “The Nice Guys” (2016). We’ve curated a list of Ryan Gosling movies for you to binge on Netflix now.
1. Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)
Love makes people do stupid things. In this romantic comedy, a father has just had a divorce from his wife for having an affair. Now, he learns how to pick up women from his best friend/mentor, and soon his life starts looking up. Until that bliss is shattered when it becomes apparent that his heart could lead to his downfall. Love can lead to hope, but it brings lots of hardship as well. With many twists and turns, love can leave you out of breath.

2. The Notebook (2004)
Nicholas Spark’s movies are indeed touching. They absorb you from reality and put you into the magic of love. This movie is one of his best movies. Interestingly, the issues he tries to bring up in the film are very much contemporary. Allie’s family is pretty wealthy, so they can’t stand seeing her daughter dating the guy whom they consider “lower in the ranking of life.” However, love defeats all the obstacles, and no matter how much they tried to come between these two characters, their love won in the end. The love story of these characters makes you believe in love though it’s hard to believe that this kind of love can be found in real life. The actors’ play is beautiful and heartwarming, and the movie plot is gripping.
(Personally, this is one of my favourtie Ryan Gosling movies of all time!)
3. Blue Valentine (2010)
It is so real. It’s not about who’s the bad guy or the good guy. It’s a testament to the fact that love can fade over time and that’s reality. Life isn’t always happy ever after and that’s what this movie is about; what it’s like after the “happy ending” fades.
The film follows them both in 2004 when they meet, and in 2010 where they are now married and with a daughter. The film shows their beautiful, “Before Sunrise” styled meeting and connection, and their almost hard to watch marital decay. This film is absolutely amazing. It’s the perfect balance between heartwarming and heartbreaking, and it realistically portrays a dying marriage without being angry, bitter, or cynical.

4. The Place Beyond The Pines (2012)
Touching and intense with raw performances from everyone. The story slowly pulls you in, with destructive character, then breaks your heart as you go for the ride. The soundtrack is beautiful. The background score and the visuals rhyme with the story. It’s essentially three stories into one, each showing how choices affect everyone around us.
5. The Big Short (2015)
Adam McKay has switched gears somewhat and has come a long way as a director. This is telling a film story at it’s finest. The entire production is outstanding. The construction and pacing of the narrative allow the viewer to absorb the events leading up to the collapse. The casting nears perfection. Bale is sensational.
The flick completely captures the greed and opportunism that took place during one of the worst pending economic dooms this country ever experienced. The events unfold in a straightforward manner, which is exactly what the four main antagonists pulled off. It was made on a moderate budget which is ironic considering the topic. This film is memorable, avant-garde, and is at the top echelon in its genre.

6. Murder by Numbers (2002)
All actors give truly remarkable performances in this film. Sandra Bullock is stunningly talented and an icon of honest and natural beauty. Each of the principal actors arrived at this film with unique, physical charms.
The relationship between two juvenile murder suspects explores a twisted, multidimensional relationship with a drizzle of teenage angst. For an uncomfortable moment, this story may dredge up old dynamics marked by that edgy time before young people find out who and what they really are.
7. First Man (2018)
First Man is truly breathtaking and powerful. The film has a lot of hand-held camera work which gives it the feeling of a homemade documentary of Neil’s life. The beauty of this technique is especially apparent during the small personal moments with Neil’s family. This automatically escalates the already intense flight sequences because the audience is now thinking about Armstrong’s family just as he would have been during those sequences. All of this, combined with the absolutely beautiful shots of the spacecraft and the moon, make this film the cinematographic experience of all time.
