Being a journalist, I had choose life of a journalist. Its not definitely as we see in films, we people do not have weekends, have lot of work, less salary and it’s really tough. Life as a Journalist in India depends on medium in which a person works.
For Example:
In case of newspaper journalist, people have no idea about the author who wrote the article which they just read. So you can peacefully do your work and write good biased and unbiased article. But in case of Television journalist, the scene is quite different. People used to watch your show, they look at your personality, they hear your words & most of the people trust their favorite TV Journalist blindly.
So, in this case you must be responsible and careful about every word you speak in the show and be aware of your actions. If in India, journalist continues to question the government, raise the voice for poor, talks about
the problem they faced every day, he may get death threats too. I just mean to say that just imagine horror behind it. You will get death threats for something you said verbally, and you will never get high TRP!!
Being a journalist is not easy, some day you are getting a front page story and on another day you are struggling to get a story. Meeting new people every day and facing new situations every day. Sometimes you get in trouble and sometimes you trouble the people The main thing is that you need to balance yourself, have patience and you need to be updated
whether you are in home, theater or anywhere else. You won’t get free time, you will always appears to be worries about your stories, your matter,
your script, your deadline but yes once you done you can’t express your happiness.
My Story
I have spent three years in journalism, and I found and experienced that everyday is different and every role in journalism is different.
I started as a reporter in Hathway Pvt. Ltd. In Indore. I wrote stories, article and for 6 months I covered basketball games and took pictures from various places & developed my own skills.
Later I worked in business magazines also and mainly in business sections.
For me, being a journalist gave me skills of learning, updating, exploring and expressing. Along the way I have met hundred and thousands of people. I learnt to think on me feet. I also have travelled Mumbai (Maharashtra) for 5 assignments of business news too & from that I git a
chance to do reporting of Indian television celebrities in award function ITA (Indore Television Academy) 2019 in Indore.
Well if you want to pursue your career in this then you must get yourself graduate in Journalism & Mass Communication (BAMC or BJMC) and you can also pursue Bsc in Electronics media too. You can also go for master’s In journalism after graduation. Journalism is a challenging field for students and playing a key role in development of nation. The average salary ranges from 10k to 1 crore and so on depending upon the skills, confidence & experience of the work you have.
Conclusion
In last I would like to conclude that journalism is act of exploring & reporting on current events through broadcast or may be prints, to a larger audience. One of the main purpose of Journalism is to provide the information to the citizens and gets them updated.
If you will work with honesty, grit, perseverance, consistency & passion then you can become best Journalist like Arnab Goswami, Shweta Singh, Anjana Om Kashyap, Ravish Kumar, Sudhir Chaudhary etc.
