- His father was Naval Tata while Sooni Tata was his mother. Naval Tata was the adopted grandson of Jamsetji Tata, founder of the Tata Group. He began his career with the Tata Party at the age of 25 in 1962. Later, he went to Harvard Business School to finish his studies. He is also a member of the Cornell University College of Architecture.
- In1991, he became the fifth chairman of the Tata Group after JRD Tata. He began Tata Teleservices and also developed and unveiled the Indica car, India’s first indigenous car.
