“Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March. Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that’s the way I like it!” Perry tweeted.

The one-off unscripted special supposed to launch the HBO Max streaming service in May 2020. But plans to film it repeatedly delayed by the pandemic that shut down production in Hollywood in mid-March.

Earlier, David Schwimmer, who plays Ross Geller, had said that the filming might be able to take place in August. However, the pandemic created a further delay in production.

A source close to the production speak to sources on Thursday that plans are still in process of finalization but that the first part of 2021 is the target date for the taping.

Perry will be joined by original cast members including Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc as twenty-somethings living in New York City, ended in 2004 after 10 years but it remains one of the most popular TV shows in reruns.

Moreover, HBO Max said earlier this year it hoped to film the reunion in the studio with a live audience.

Also, HBO Max had secured rights to the show’s back catalogue for $425 million, according to the sources.

Also, the six friends will return to the original soundstage of the show, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros Studio lot in Burbank to celebrate the sitcom, which ended in 2004, according to a report.

Hollywood movies and television shows have slowly resumed production under complex safety guidelines that include social distancing, frequent testing for cast and crews, and COVID-19 advisers on sets.
