Tamil Nadu imposes Total lockdown on Sundays, night curfew from tomorrow
To reduce the transmission of Covid-19, the Tamil Nadu government imposed many restrictions on Wednesday, including a complete lockdown on Sunday (Jan 9), a night curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (beginning Jan 6) and a prohibition on people entering places of worship on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The Sunday lockdown will begin on January 9 and will prohibit any non-essential activity. The state government, on the other hand, has allowed eateries to offer meal delivery services between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. on lockdown days.
The decision was reached during a high-level meeting involving state health minister Ma Subramanian and other top health authorities, which was led by chief minister MK Stalin.
Physical classes will not be allowed for kids in grades I-IX, according to a government directive. For students in classes X, XI, and XII, offline lessons will continue.
Furthermore, public buses, metros, and local trains will operate at 50% capacity. On all days, amusement parks will be closed, but visitors will be able to wander on beaches that meet Covid-19 standards.
Employees of service centres such stores, private organisations, banks, commercial institutions, and theatres must be immunised twice.
Restaurants, cafes, and jewellery and textile stores can operate at 50% capacity.
Weddings can have up to 100 guests while funerals can have up to 50.
Only 50% of clubs, gyms, hotels, theatres, multiplexes, beauty parlours, and salons can be filled.
Sporting events will be allowed on open grounds if necessary measures are taken. In closed stadiums, a 50% crowd will be authorised.
