Dr. Deepsikha Chettri of Sikkim is the state’s second female officer to join the Indian Army.
GANGTOK: Sikkim based Dr. Deepsikha Chettri joins the Indian Army as the second female officer from the state to ever serve in the Indian Army.

She was born in Gangtok and joined the Indian Army after completing her basic training.
Deepsikha Chettri was ranked 6th overall in India and 2nd among women in army medical tests.
She is a source of inspiration for many people and has surely made the state proud.
Before enrolling in the MBBS programme at Sikkim Manipal Institute Of Medical Science, she attended Tashi Namgyal Academy, St Joseph’s Kalimpong, and Birla Balika Vidyapeeth Pilani.
Shri Rajendra Kumar Chettri and Bindu Chettri of Sichey Gangtok East Sikkim are her parents.
For the next eight months, she will serve as both a doctor and a soldier on the front lines.
All the Gorkha Communities congratulated her on social media with quotation and shared the picture.
Even the state chief ministerPrem Singh Tamang, congratulated her on facebook with sharing her picture and wrote, “I would like to congratulate Dr Deepsikha Chettri on accomplishing the captain rank in the Indian Army and becoming the second female officer from Sikkim to ever serve in the Indian Armed Forces.
In the army medical exams, she came in sixth overall and second among female candidates. It is a proud time for her, her parents, and the state as a whole. I wish her more success and milestones in all of her endeavours, and I hope she inspires others to do the same.”
