An Inspirational Story of True Corona Warriors
The lockdown period during the coronavirus pandemic has been a great test for all of us. Many people worldwide have lost their jobs and so is the case in India too. Even in such hard times, you are likely to find the inspirational story of Corona Warriors.
However, there are a lot more people who faced more difficulties than the rest of us. People suffered from food shortages and went through various mental breakdowns like anxiety and depression while staying away from their families. People like daily wage workers, low-income group families, and others belonging to small communities have suffered a lot more financially.
However, during such hard times, there are always a bunch of people, true Corona warriors that take responsibility to pay back to society while risking their own lives at risk. Such people are the true inspiring heroes for society.
A True Corona Inspiration
Here, we bring to you one such inspirational story of Corona Warriors. A lady named Sheetal in New Delhi from the ‘Art of living’ club was concerned about the city’s daily wagers. Many of the outsiders and migrants even today do not have shelters and live on the roads and shaded corners of streets.
She remarked that dry rations provided by the government are not of much help to them. So she decided to help them and provide meals for them. Sooner later she got permission from the local authorities to aid in the same.
Her Journey
initially, she started cooking 10 meals a day. After some time she took that number to 70meals a day and then a whopping 200 meals. The meals were circulated by her friends in big utensils and in no time the ‘Art of Living’ volunteers and ‘project Annapoorna’ came into light. Soon the whole club started regulating 2 meals a day at shelter homes in New Delhi. Even the lack of resources did not stop these volunteers. They did not give up and went to thrive hard. Currently, they are serving 8 shelter homes in New Delhi.
Her Family Support
doing such a tedious task alone is not easy at all. She isn’t alone as her daughter and husband help her in cutting vegetables. Sheetal herself cooks in huge utensils to ensure that the quantity and quality of food are not hampered. The distribution point starts from a spot common for rickshaw pullers. She often asks the workers what food they want to have and she goes ahead of cooking the same.
While the food is served the happiness on the faces of the workers gives her immense pleasure and satisfaction.
Her daughter and husband are often worried about Sheetal’s safety and her health. On being asked she told that the smile on the faces of daily wagers keeps her motivated and dedicated towards her work.
The whole team takes care of all the safety and precautions to avoid the spread of viruses and anyone getting infected with the pandemic.
Till now Project Annapoorna has a team of 50 volunteers who serve daily wagers in the city of New Delhi on daily basis. They are serving 7000-10000 meals per day and till now they have served more than 60000 meals to the laborers and wagers including poor women and children.
Sheetal is no less than an inspiration for all of us today.
