The first trailer has been released for“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” a continuation of a trilogy that has given us the popular superhero web-swinging around in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Spider-verse is back. This time in live-action. But things are off to a rocky start.
After the trailer was leaked online on Sunday, Marvel Studios and Sony were forced to release a high-quality version on Monday, before too many eager eyes saw the pirated version.
What’s the big deal? Fans are curious as to how many Spider-Men will appear in this film. After hearing that anybody who has ever been Spider-Man or ever considered being Spider-Man is in this film, the trailer was eagerly anticipated.
And let us not forget the movie that showed us multiple spider-people in a film can work: The Academy Award-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” Miles Morales did it first.
So, what exactly does the trailer imply? Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will undoubtedly appear in this film (which comes as no surprise) and will play a major role in any potential multiverse hijinks.
Spider-secret Man’s identity was revealed to the world at the end of 2019’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” and now it appears that Peter Parker (Tom Holland), MJ (Zendaya), and their entire family and friends are dealing with the fallout. The pressure of the world realising who he is drives Peter to Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, where he asks the Sorcerer Supreme (whom he met at the Sanctum Sanctorum) for help.

Doctor Strange, who was previously renowned as one of the MCU’s most brilliant minds, agrees with Peter’s request and begins casting a spell. But when Peter admits he’s worried about keeping the few people who know his secret in the dark, he has second thoughts. Doctor Strange is so distracted by his second thoughts that the spell doesn’t work properly, and instant multiversity ensues.
After the successful series “WandaVision” and “Loki” on Disney Plus, magic and parallel universes are nothing new to the MCU, but neither of those shows have attempted what this Spider-Man film is reportedly destined to do.
What about the other Spider-Men? Are they in the room? Are we going to see Tobey Maguire, the original $100 million opening-weekend hero, and Andrew Garfield, the guy he passed his web-shooters to, now that the fabric of reality has been ripped? Is it possible to cram three Spider-Men into a single film? and Is that even possible, given that they aren’t shown in this trailer? Is it for important jobs or just quick cameos if they’re here?
It’s too early to know, and honestly foolish to think that we would get those answers so soon. You may just have to wait until Christmas when this movie is released.
However, based on the few surprises revealed in this video, such excitement may be justified. There’s the Green Goblin pumpkin bomb we saw bouncing around, Jamie Foxx’s return as Electro (which he teased in since-deleted Instagram postings), and a special treat: Alfred Molina’s return as Doctor Octopus. Who are the bad guys? They’re on their way. From multiple Spider-Man movie universes.
