Instagram influencer and YouTuber Gaurav Wasan on Monday dismissed allegations.
It was of misappropriation of funds against him and produced bank statements. It was to prove that he had transacted the money to ‘Baba Ka Dhaba’ owner Kanta Prasad’s account. Wasan’s clarifications came a day after Prasad filed a police complaint against him for alleged fraud.
Prasad (80), who runs the eatery with his wife in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar. A video of him tearfully recounting the desperation of the months since the lockdown went viral. The eatery shot to fame soon after.
Prasad’s despair had come to light when Wasan captured the eatery owner breaking down. As he talked about his struggles in a video shared on the YouTuber’s social media account.
Complaint by ‘Baba Ka Dhaba’ Owner
According to the complaint filed by Prasad, Gaurav Wasan shot his video. And posted it online and convinced the public on social media to donate money to the eatery owner.
“Wasan intentionally and deliberately shared only his and his family/friends bank details and mobile numbers with the donors and collected huge amount of donation through different mode of payments i.e bank account/wallets without providing any information to the complainant,” the complaint said.
On Sunday Prasad (owner of Baba ka Dhaba) told a media organization that he had only received a cheque of Rs 2 lakh from Wasan “I don’t get a lot of customers now; most people come here to take selfies… Earlier I was earning over Rs 10,000 per day, now it’s Rs 3,000-Rs 5,000,” he said.
Prasad also accused the YouTuber of not providing details of the financial transactions to him.
After the video went viral, Baba ka Dhaba was the cynosure of many eyes across the country. Including celebs from showbiz who posted appeals asking people to go there and get themselves a meal.
